so after almost 2 straight weeks of Pats-specific stories (even the Media Day coverage was heavily skewed in the local boys’ favor), ESPN.com dropped this bomb on us today:

aw, crap. talk about having to overcome some rather serious karma. not only are the Pats no longer the underdogs (they waved bye-bye to that long ago) and headed for super-villain (thanks to Spygate and piling on the points this season), but now they’re going to have to beat the team inspired by a disabled Iraqi war vet? this can’t end well.
